Before commencing training, you must first apply for your provisional licence. The minimum age for training is normally 18 years (subject to restrictions until 21 years). You will be required to take a medical examination before applying for your provisional licence. The medical form is to be sent in with your application. We can assist you with completing the application forms to enable you to obtain your provisional licence.
There is no fee for your provisional licence. When your driving licence is returned it will show the provisional entitlement. We will be more than happy to check your licence to ensure the correct provisional entitlements have been applied. You will then be able to take the theory tests.
Once you have received your provisional licence, we can arrange a driving assessment, which lasts for about an hour. This will enable us to determine how much training is required to bring you up to the standards to pass your driving tests. We will provide you with information and training required for your theory tests – you can be studying for this whilst waiting for your provisional licence to arrive. The theory test is in two parts, answering questions relating to bus transport as well as a hazard test. Once you have passed both parts of the theory tests, you will be able to commence the practical training and work toward the driving test. Your test day will consist of a warm up drive before the test. The practical test, with D.S.A, Examiner will last approximately one and a half hours.
